Create the ultimate winter wonderland in your backyard and get inspired with these festive outdoor holiday decorating ideas.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The weather is getting colder, trees are changing colors, and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. If you’re looking for some inspiration on how to celebrate this holiday season then check out these awesome outdoor decorations that will turn your backyard into your very own winter wonderland. Add Garland.

Drap everything with garland from the deck railings, to the furniture. You can even frame the window with garland. I like to mix faux with real.

Battery-operated garland, means you don’t have to worry about cords. Just make sure it’s compatible with outdoor usage.

Add a Wreath or 2 or 3

Let’s face it Christmas decorations wouldn’t be complete without a wreath. But I say why stop at one? Add a wreath to the door, the windows on the deck railing.

I also prefer battery-operated wreaths like this because there its no need to hide a cord and its so easy to put anywhere.

Create a Frozen Winter Wonderland

Now let’s put the winter into this winter wonderland holiday decorations. Let’s face it, nothing makes you think of frozen better than this super large inflatable SVEN. Haha

This Airblown-Mixed Media-Baby Sven w/Snowflake-LG-Disney Inflatable makes me feel like I have a pet just for the holidays. And he’s housebroken. Just look at that cute adorable face.

Next Add a little snow effect for the perfect winter wonderland escape, coupled with a few snowy friends.

Creating the snow

To create the snow I used garden fabric that I had left from protecting my plants from frost and topped it with Home Accents Holiday Snow Cover Blanket. I then sprayed a can of spray snow all over EVERYTHING to give it that wintery frost look and feel.

Create a Cozy Outdoor Spot

Create a cozy outdoor spot, perfect for the adults. A winter wonderland is cold in theory. So there should be an area where you can cozy up in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the scenery.

There is nothing like seeing all the decorations at night. It really brings the whole winter wonderland theme to life.
