I Hate my Kitchen!
You know it’s been a while since I’ve updated you on my home remodel and I do apologize. I know where I left off I was trying to figure out how to organize my room and closet, revealing my Bedroom Secrets. And the fact of the matter is, I’ve got a lot more s***…. stuff than I thought. Coming up with closet solutions and so forth and sorting through my
mayhem is going to take longer than I had originally anticipated. So for now I’m going to put that on the back burner and work on that a little further before I update you on what I’ve done. Instead I thought I’d show you what I’ve been working on my kitchen. After all in February the focus of the Pinterest Room Challenge was the Kitchen.
When I bought this house the kitchen was this big blob of “smurfdom” blue (yep, I made word that up). It was hideous and the walls were blue the ceiling was blue; the cabinets were a seventies laminate creation that needed to be put to rest. The horrid disgusting laminate countertops were stained. The floors were ripped and torn “wood like” vinyl. Truth be told, I was questioning what I was thinking when I bought this darn house. This kitchen was a disaster. But I had visions of Pinterest and Houzz.com boards in my head.
To be totally honest, I did not know how to tackle the blue backsplash. I wasn’t very experienced with tiling, the removal and installation. I just saw dollars signs every time I walked into that blasted room. I couldn’t afford to totally put in a whole new countertop, buy all new appliances, change out the cabinets, and remove the dated empty soffits above the cabinets. So I reworked this kitchen couple of times. And you’ll be amazed what you get with a little paint, ingenuity and outside of the box thinking.
The life of a Toolbox Diva, is a life where one quickly learns that projects rarely go as planned. Sometimes the color you originally thought would be perfect turns out to be a complete flop. Or that quick fix is really a 9-10 hour or 2 day job .
Well in the effort of updating my kitchen I went through a few looks before I settled on my current state. I will show you the progression from start to where I am today, as I’ve worked and reworked my kitchen a couple of times now. But it all started with the repainting of the vile blue walls and ceiling, followed by 2 straight weeks of paint in my hair.

CRISIS
ON THE HOME FRONT, CONTRACTOR CHAOS!
I can't wait to see. I'm always interested when people make over that kind of cabinet. I found you through Hometalk.
Thank you! You know it's funny I searched all over the web originally for inspiration with these types of cabinets. It was hard to find anything that spoke to me. So at the end of the day I just went with the injection of me into the space. It's very colorful and artistic. I hope you like it.
