Welcome back to another edition of Nap Time DIY.  A series of simple DIY projects you can do in an hour or less while your little one sleeps.

Today’s project is one of my favorites!  What’s not to love about hot pink and hairpin legs?

Once my little diva was born, we started spending a lot of time at Grandma’s house.  So much time in fact, that I decided I needed a workspace there so I could get things done.

This modern desk with hairpin legs is super easy to make and can be done in just an hour while your little one naps.  Check out the video and written tutorial below.

Supplies Needed to Make a Modern Desk with Hairpin Legs

Tools

Let’s make a desk!

spray painting hairpin legs with pink spray paint

  • Spray paint the hairpin legs first.  While the legs dry, work on the top of the desk.

  • Using a miter saw, cut the panel board to 32″.  The board is a little wider than what my miter saw can handle so I cut it half way, then flipped it over and cut the other side.

  • Use a 3/8 router bit and round the edges of the panel board.

  • Using an orbital sander, sand until smooth.

  • Apply a coat of clear satin finish polyurethane to give the top of the desk a modern look.
  • Allow to dry.

  • Mark where the legs will go on the bottom side of the desk top.  Measuring in 1″ from the edge.

  • Pre drill the holes for the holes for the screws.

Your modern desk with hairpin legs is ready to use.  Isn’t it awesome?

It will be a perfect place for my little diva to color and do her homework when she gets older.  But, can we talk about the hot pink legs again?  I mean there really is no better color than hot pink!
