Using Fabric for Wall Art

Decorating a new space or updating an old space can be a bit of a daunting task at times. Ā And despite the affordableĀ options in stores like Homegoods and Target, it canĀ get expensive really quick. And then you’re also faced with the possibility of walkingĀ into a friend’s home and seeing the exact same print that you may have bought from a popular store on their walls. Ā I’m going to show you how to avoids high costs while achieving a unique look that matches the style and personality of your home using fabric.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Steps

  1. Cut the fabric down to the size of the frame you’ll be using.
  2. Tape the stencil to the center of the fabric.
  3. You can use a disposable plate to squeeze the paint out on. Ā Stencil the fabric using the fabric paint and allow time for it to dry. Ā Ā Ā
  4. You can also layer the various stencils to create an artistic scene. Ā You just want to make sure the paint is dry before layering the stencils. Ā Ā Ā  Ā  Ā Ā
  5. Once all the pieces are dry proceed with framing the fabric. Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Don’t be afraid to use various patterns and colors. The matte frameĀ actually unifies the various fabric pieces. Ā The sky’s the limit by just how creative you can be with this.
  6. Finally, hang your frames in a pattern on your wall based on the size and the number of frames you decide to put up. Ā I recommend using a self-leveling laser level when putting up the frames. Ā It really does make the job go by faster and seamless.

You can use a laser level like thisĀ BoschĀ 30 ft. Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser Level

  1. I would have never thought about using fabric for wall art. This is such a cute idea that does make decorating a new space less daunting. There’s a part of me that wishes I wasn’t so busy, so I’d have more time to create things like this. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find similar wall art that this just as unique for my home.
