DIY Concrete Table Top

Turn a stool into a side table.   In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to turn an iron chain stool into a modern side table with a concrete table top.  DIY Concrete table top- Toolbox DivasThis is an inexpensive solution for outdoor decor and it gives new life to an older piece of furniture.  When you’re outdoors enjoying the weather in the Summer and Spring its nice to be able to have a place to set your drink down.  This is a great way to utilize what you already have.

Concrete can be messy and in some cases intimidating but once you get started you’ll quickly find that its not that bad after all.  I found it rather easy to work with once I understood the elements of concrete and things I should consider when working with it.  I think this may be the start of a great building connection 😉

  1. Thanks for the video about your project. It is fun to watch and makes it easy to see how to make the table. I also like that you painted the concrete. I’ve done some concrete and cement furniture projects but have never painted them. I’ve thought about it but, but haven’t done it. I think in your case it turned just another concrete table top into something that really stands out. I clicked on your link because I had to know what that thing was. Thanks!

    1. Thank you so much Jen! I’m so happy you clicked on the link and loved what you saw and it offered inspiration. I hope you share your next concrete picture with me. I just know it’ll be beautiful.

This is a really cute project and I already have two metal bases to use for this project!
Your directions are just a little bit confusing.
Your list of materials does not include the vinyl concrete patcher as you show in the video.
Do you wait for the vinyl patcher to set before adding the quick-setting concrete layer?
By the way, the word to use is level not ‘even’ when describing how to set up the concrete mix to dry.

    1. Thank you for letting me know. I will make sure to edit the materials list to ensure clarity. So the vinyl concrete patcher is optional. I used that initially at the bottom of the mold because it has a finer texture with smaller rocks. The finer texture reduces the amount if imperfections that could occur in the mold while it sets. However it’s a little more expensive than quickset.
