6 Affordable Ways I Created a Fall Inspired Front Door

6 Affordable Ways I Created a Fall Inspired Front DoorMy front door…..well, yea…it was not pretty.  In fact, if I’m completely honest with you, I was totally embarrassed by what a person would see when they drove by my house or walked up to my front door.  Aside from installing a motion sensor light and putting up a welcome sign that displayed my favorite kind of shoes, I hadn’t done a thing. But with fall here I was inspired by theFront-Door-Before motion sensor beautiful colors and textures. Here are 5 affordable ways I used my fall inspiration to create a more inviting front entryway.

Clean.  First things first, before starting any project its best to clean up your space. I swept away the leaves and dirt and grime that had collected outside my front door.  Then I wiped down the front door and windows inside out. For the windows I went back over it with rubbing alcohol and a 5 in 1 tool to remove an old security sticker (Seriously why do people place those stickers on their front entry window or any window that is).

Paint. Paint is probably the least expensive and more impactful way to change the look and feel of any space, room or thing.  My door was an old dingy hunter green. It was scratched and dented.  The color I went with was BEHR MARQUEE Rumors in Semi-Gloss.  Not much was needed.  I bought a quart of paint. This paint has great coverage. Two coats and I was done.

Door Accents.  A sure fire quick way to update your front door is to add a wreath or welcome sign.  It being fall and close to Thanksgiving,  I had cornucopias on the brain. So I made this door hanging floral arrangement that mimicked a cornucopia. I used floral arrangements I had stashed from last thanksgiving and jute. cornicopia resized

Chrysanthemums. Fall flowers better known as mums come in a variety of colors and sizes.  Every fall I love the many shades of mums at my local home improvement store. It’s normally quite a challenge sticking with just 1 or 2 mums or colors. But Mums are essential for any fall floral arrangement.Mums

Personalized Door Mat. I had an old dingy door mat that didn’t match the knew color scheme of my new front entryway. Instead of throwing it away and buying a new mat, I painted it and made it more suitable to my front door entryway

Pumpkins and Hay. Fall foliage in my mind has always included hay and bright orange pumpkins.  Also I couldn’t truly welcome you all in by saying ‘Heyy!’ and not including a little hay in my decor. 😉  This year I also wanted to change it up a little bit with the inclusion of a white pumpkin.  I just couldn’t get enough of the white pumpkins.  All these items were found at my local home improvement store.

Total cost for my fall inspired front doorway: Approx. $60

I hope this provides a little inspiration for anyone interested in dressing up their front doorway this fall.  You don’t have to break the bank. Work with what you have and be a little creative.

    1. Thank you Leandra! I used a Rust-Oleum espresso spray paint for the base. For the words I used some sample latex Behr paint in a cream color for the letters and frame.
